Summer Camps

Welcome!

Summer is almost here! The 花季视频 Department of Music and Theatre faculty and staff are back with a summer of great music camps planned. We hope that your music students will join us for Band Camp (grades 6-12) and Jazz & Rock Band Workshop (grades 8-12). High school seniors seeking musical fun are also welcome to attend.

Band Camp

Time/Date: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 10-14

Grades: 6-12

Location:

Description: Students who attend Band Camp will perform in either the wind symphony (9th-12th grade) or symphonic band (6th-8th grade) as part of their experience.

花季视频 Band Camp is under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, director of bands. Dr. Zacharella will be joined by an esteemed music faculty of nationally and internationally recognized performers and teachers including 花季视频 music faculty Dr. Andrew DeBoer (clarinet), Ginny Hudson (flute), Don Bailey (saxophones), and David Tyson (brass).
 
The camp runs daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 10-14, with a final concert at 6 p.m. on the final day in Breedlove Auditorium on the 花季视频 campus.

Scholarships are available for students who made All-State ($30) and All-Region ($25) bands. (Scholarships cannot not be combined.)

Price: $185 for commuters (lunch and camp t-shirt included)

Registration Deadline: June 7, 2024*

*Late registration forms will be accepted, but may be subject to a late fee.

Jazz & Rock Camp

Time/Date: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, June 18-21

Grades: 8-12

Location:

Description: Students who attend the Jazz and Rock Camp will perform in jazz/rock/pop/Latin combos and big bands, take improvisation classes, and work on songwriting. Students will also participate in 鈥淭he Real World鈥 Jazz Workshop hosted by Don Bailey, 花季视频 director of Jazz Studies.

Jazz and Rock Camp is under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, trombonist and 花季视频 director of bands. Dr. Zacharella will be joined by an esteemed music faculty of nationally and internationally recognized performers and teachers including 花季视频 Jazz Catz Director Don Bailey and 花季视频 Jazz Band and Rock Lab Director Dr. David Tyson.

The camp runs daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, June 18-21, with a final concert at 6 p.m. on the final day in Breedlove Auditorium on the 花季视频 campus.

Scholarships are available for students who made All-State  ($30) and All-Region ($25) band/jazz/ orchestra. (Scholarships cannot not be combined.)

Price: $165 for commuters (lunch and camp t-shirt included)

Rules and Regulations

Campers are expected to acquaint themselves with the rules, procedures, and standards of conduct established by the 花季视频 Department of Music Summer Music Camps. A camper who does not fulfill the responsibilities set out by such rules, procedures, and standards of conduct may be subject to disciplinary action including dismissal from camp.

  1. Campers are required to wear their nametag in clear view at all times.
  2. Campers are expected to attend ALL scheduled rehearsals, sectionals, and the final camp concert. Attendance will be taken. You must notify a camp instructor if you are unable to attend. Habitual tardiness or missed classes will result in being asked to leave camp without a refund.
  3. Campers must remain on campus while camp is in session. This includes during lunch. Campers are expected to have lunch in the Lion鈥檚 Den. Following lunch campers should return to their scheduled rehearsal.
  4. Cell phones should not be used during rehearsals, meetings, or sectionals. Turn them off!
  5. Never leave your personal belongings unattended. 花季视频 will not be responsible if personal items, including instruments, are stolen or lost due to negligence.
  6. Clothing must be appropriate. No short shorts, sleeveless t-shirts, or offensive graphics or slogans.
  7. No bare midriffs or backs are allowed, nor should the camper鈥檚 undergarments be exposed.
  8. Possession of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, fireworks, chemicals, gasoline, or other explosives, firearms, illegal knives, clubs, or prohibited weapons is cause for immediate removal from the camp without a refund. Prescription and over-the-counter medication is only allowed if listed on the Medical Release Form.
  9. Absolutely no form of sexual misconduct, harassment, violence, threats of violence, bullying, or other acts of communication intended to intimidate, harass, or annoy will be tolerated.
  10. Vandalism and theft will result in immediate dismissal from the camp. Please treat the buildings, equipment, and furniture with care. If vandalism occurs those involved will be financially responsible for all expenses necessary for repair.
  11. Should your parents need to contact you during camp, they should call 479-788-7530.
